July 6, 2026-Down the Saint Lawrence toward Montreal.

Left the marina at Prescott and made our way down the river toward Montreal. Pics below. There were several locks on the Saint Lawrence--some run by the Canadians and two run by the US. There is no place we found that gives you good instructions on what to expect at the locks. Some of the sources said we need 70 foot lines on board. Wrong. Downbound, the Canadians hand you two lines--one bow and one stern. You hold on to that line as the water is lowered. In the US locks, the "floating bollards" are built into the walls of the lock. You pull alongside one at midship and wrap a line around the bollard. It then goes down with you as the water is lowered. Simple. When cleared to leave, you simply unwrap your line and leave the lock.
